This is my 22nd year in education and my first year serving RSAA as the Director of Intervention and Engagement.  I have been a part of the RSAA staff for the past 15 years. In this role, my focus will be on supporting student growth in both literacy and math, while also helping strengthen the connection between school and home.  A big part of my work will be looking at student needs, helping plan supports, and working alongside teachers to make sure students are receiving the help they need to grow. Every child learns differently, and sometimes students need extra time, different strategies, or additional support to help them move forward. My goal is to help make those supports clear, consistent, and meaningful for students, teachers, and families.

I also believe that families are an important part of a child’s success. When families feel informed, connected, and supported, students benefit. I look forward to working with families throughout the year to help answer questions, share resources, and support students both in and out of the classroom.  RSAA is a special place because it values both academics and the arts. I believe students learn best when they are able to think, create, ask questions, solve problems, and discover what they are passionate about. The arts give students opportunities to express themselves, build confidence, and take risks in a supportive environment. Those same skills also help students grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, and thinkers.

Outside of school, I am a husband to Gretchen and a father to Oliver, Beatrice, and Gwyn. Being both an educator and a parent shapes the way I view this work. I know how important it is for families to feel that their children are seen, cared for, challenged, and supported.

I am excited for the opportunity to serve RSAA students, staff, and families in this new role. My hope is to be a support, a problem-solver, and a partner as we work together to help students grow.
