“Where Academics & Arts Come Alive!”

Meet the Prevention Coordinator

Mr. Mike McPeek - Prevention Coordinator

Mike McPeek

Welcome to the 2023-2024 Academic Year!  My name is Mike McPeek and this is my second year serving the students, staff and families of RSAA as Prevention Coordinator.  I am a very proud husband, father and lifelong native to our community.

My background is in Human Services, Prevention Education, Chemical and Substance Abuse Treatment and Mental Health. I have served in local public schools as a prevention educator and mentor since 2015, working with students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. Prior to my work in the schools, I spent 12 years working with youth who were dealing with trauma, struggling with substance abuse and challenged with behavioral issues at both the private and at the state level. In addition to these experiences, I also continue to work locally in faith-based youth programing.

My vision for students is from a prevention mindset with the hope of providing skills and support that will assist in reducing and/or eliminating negative risk factors, so that students can successfully thrive in our school community. It is my goal to affirm and enhance each student’s unique positive characteristics from a “Growth Mindset” approach. Preventing or delaying the onset of at risk behaviors assist in developing positive outcomes for long term success. It is my goal to ensure students are cared for, supported, challenged and empowered, while striving for positive personal development in academics, health and mental wellness.
